St. Pius X Fun Day

DOG and I had a great time at Fun Day this weekend! We had fun passing out candy and seeing the students in their Halloween costumes! DOG dressed up as a character from one of his favorite books, "The Hallo-Wiener" and my costume was french fries.
We also entered the pumpkin decorating contest at Fun Day. We didn't win, but we had a great time making our pumpkin look like Oscar the Grouch. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make Fun Day a success!!

Ten Apples Up On Top!

We had fun reading this Dr. Seuss favorite! It is not as easy as it looks to get ten "apples" up on top!

If your child's has not earned any points, it's not to late for them to take a test. They can use the link to Accelerated Reader on this website and we will include all points through Sunday, October 18th. Happy Reading!

The Listening Library Is Open!

Our listening library contains almost 175 titles. The sets that contain a book/cd were purchased with grant funds given to the library from Target. The sets (over 100) that contain a book/cassette were donated by my aunt that is a retired school teacher. Mrs. Fernandez, our elementary Spanish teacher, also donated some book sets in Spanish.
Thank you Target, Aunt Barbara, and Mrs. Fernandez for your generosity!!
Kindergarten is listening to one of our new Halloween books from the listening library. Lucy gets to be the teacher and is prompted by the "beep" when it's time to turn the page.

Library Time

Sharing some good books and playing "Book Bingo" are just a few of the fun things we did in the library this week.

A Bookworm!

The 5th graders found this caterpillar trying to crawl into the library and quickly named it Bookworm. I brought him inside so he could read, but he made a cocoon instead. We are all anxious to see what happens next!
