It's time to earn prizes for your Accelerated Reader points. On January 7th and 8th, all students will be able to trade their points for prizes. The points will be from the 2009-2010 school year. Students will have the option to trade in points or save the points for next quarter. The AR tests may be taken at school or at home. There is a link to Accelerated Reader on this blog.

If your child's has not earned any points, it's not to late for them to take a test. We will include all points through Tuesday, January 6th. Happy Reading!

The Jesse Tree

The fifth graders read Scripture to learn more about the people and the symbols of The Jesse Tree . It is Jesus' family tree which was suggested by Isaiah 11:1 "But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse and from his roots a bud shall blossom."

Thanks to the Library Club members for coloring and assembling The Jesse Tree for the Library.

Author Visit

Robin Segal, author of the "All 'Bout Cities" book series, came to St. Pius X School to share "ABC in Tulsa" with the K-8 students. She explained how she co-authored this book with Tulsa school children who helped her brainstorm ideas for words and pictures for the book about a year ago. She also described the process she uses to publish and print her ABC books. Our students had many good questions for Robin and were excited to have a chance to buy an autographed copy of her "ABC in Tulsa" book.

DOG buys a copy of "ABC in Tulsa" to share with his friends in the library.

St. Pius X Fun Day

DOG and I had a great time at Fun Day this weekend! We had fun passing out candy and seeing the students in their Halloween costumes! DOG dressed up as a character from one of his favorite books, "The Hallo-Wiener" and my costume was french fries.
We also entered the pumpkin decorating contest at Fun Day. We didn't win, but we had a great time making our pumpkin look like Oscar the Grouch. Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make Fun Day a success!!
